Keeper Rules
  • Franchise Keeper Eligibility
    • A player can be kept by a team if
      • The Player is on the teams ‘Final Roster’ at the end of the season
    • A player cannot be kept by a team from that team’s previous year’s roster if
      • The Player was designated as a keeper by ANY team from the previous year
      • The Player was a 1st round draft pick from the previous year
    • Franchise Keeper Round Designation
      • A player that is eligible to be kept will have a draft position based on the type of player that is being kept
        • If the Player was drafted by the team that is keeping the player they will be kept in 1 round ahead of where they were drafted in the previous year.
          • If a Player is drafted and traded to another team that intends to keep him, the team that received the player in the trade has the ‘drafted round’ transferred to them. (This only effects players drafted in or after round 10)
          • If a Player is dropped by a team that owns the drafted round (either by drafting or by trade), the dropping team retains the ‘drafted round’ keeper eligibility .
        • If the Player was undrafted the keeper round defaults to the 8th round
        • If the Player was drafted by team A and subsequently dropped and then picked up by team B, who intends to keep them there are 2 scenarios:
          • If the Player was drafted between the 2nd and 9th rounds then the keeper value transfers to the new owner. The keeper round will be 1 round ahead of where the player was drafted.
          • If the Player was drafted in the 10th round or later then the keeper value automatically defaults to the 8th
  • Franchise Keeper Selection Due Date
    • Final Franchise Keeper selections must be made 1 week prior to draft day.
    • These selections are set and cannot be changed unless:
      • Between the selection and the draft something unexpected happens to the player. (The McCool Rule)
        • This can include, but is not limited to:
          • Injury
          • Roster transaction that involves the player and/or player’s spot on the depth chart
          • Criminal arrest, warrant, investigation, or activity
          • Suspension
  • SchwagBag Keeper Eligibility
    • A player can be kept by a team if
      • The Player is on the teams ‘Final Roster’ at the end of the season
      • Has an average draft position (ADP) greater than 96 based on the designated time (ie draft position of 100 is eligible)
    • A player cannot be kept by a team from that team’s previous year’s roster if
      • The Player was designated as a keeper by ANY team from the previous year
      • Has an ADP less than 96 (ie draft position of 10 is ineligible)
    • SchwagBag Keeper Round Designation
      • All will be taken in the final round
  • SchwagBag Keeper Selection Due Date
    • Final keeper selections must be made 1 week prior to draft day.
      • ADP will be captured as of that morning
      • SchwagBag keepers can be declared earlier but may be deemed ineligible if ADP has fluctuated by the time ADP is captured
    • These selections are set and cannot be changed unless:
      • Between the selection and the draft something unexpected happens to the player. (The McCool Rule)
        • This can include, but is not limited to:
          • Injury
          • Roster transaction that involves the player and/or player’s spot on the depth chart
          • Criminal arrest, warrant, investigation, or activity
          • Suspension
  • SchwagBag Keeper Draft Process
    • Entering the final round each team that has elected a SchwagBag Keeper will flip a coin.
      • One side is designated as keeping, one side designated as not keeping.
        • If the side lands on the keeping side that team drafts their SchwagBag keeper in their draft position in the 13th round
        • If the side lands on the not keeping side, then the player is put into the SchwabBag
      • Once all teams have flipped and not keeping players are placed into the SchwagBag the teams that did not keep their player will draw names out of the SchwagBag
        • Whichever name they draw will be their final round pick
    • Note: Schwaggle reserves the right to include additional name(s) in his SchwagBag that may not have been elected. These players are known as Schwagmollies.
